Just a little news update.

Well, actually it's a big news update if you're an affiliate marketer who wants to "take it up a few notches."

Make Sense of Google AdSense – and Make Money!

First let’s examine what AdSense is and how it works.

What is Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is an ad-serving program that places ads that “make sense” – specifically, that make sense based on relevant content, and assumptions about who might be interested in that content. AdSense is an application of the broader concept of Contextual Marketing. Contextual Marketing is just what it sounds like. On a website about custom cars, you might have an ad for fancy wheels or car care kits. On a website about off-roading, you might have an ad for durable truck tires or spotlight rigs. A hockey site might advertise hockey sticks…and a tennis site, tennis shoes. Contextual Marketing just means aligning the ad serving with the context/nature of the website and its audience, the same way like items are grouped in a store. And the “context” can be cut much finer than website level, it can be page level, article level, and so on, so the ads always match the material they are appearing near, and thus, appeal to the interest of the reader/buyer at any given moment.

So what’s in it for you – the website publisher/owner? That’s easy. Every time a visitor to your site clicks one of these ads, you make money. The better the ads are targeted, the more clicks you get, the more money you make. AdSense displays easy-to-read, text-based, relevant ads that don’t overshadow the content of your website or annoy visitors. Actually, you have seen hundreds of these ads yourself, as you’ll realize in a moment.

Today there are probably only a few places in your website that can directly make you money, if any. The magic of Google AdSense is this: It allows you to earn money through every page of your website. On top of that, with algorithms used to align ad content with page content Google automatically selects and displays ads for your website that are likely to generate the highest revenue for you.

AdSense is an application of AdWords beyond Google.com

Making “sense” of AdSense means understanding that it is really an offshoot of the older Google model, AdWords. But they are not the same thing.

Google AdWords

If you have ever searched on Google, you have seen AdWords.

Google AdWords are the small text ads that are displayed on the side of the search results in Google. These ads are contextual of course – in this case the context is the search terms you entered. The ads will be served based on what you’re looking for. So, if you do a search on “printing services” you will get ads for printing services along with your search results!

How does this generate money for Google and the advertisers?

Google AdWords works on a model known as pay-per-click. When someone clicks on an AdWords ad, the advertiser of that ad has to pay Google a certain amount. It’s easy to track and fully automated.

We say “certain amount” because that amount is different all the time and is subject to market forces – in this case, bidding. Something has to determine the placement of those ads, and what determines it is how much the advertiser offers to pay per click. When you submit this kind of ad to Google, you submit it with a bid – which is compared to other bids for similar keywords. It’s an auction style process.

The position of the AdWords ads is based on the bidding amount of keywords of an ad. Obviously, the higher the bid, the higher the position the bid buys you. For instance, if the highest bid for the keywords “Internet marketing” is 80 cents per click, you can get top position by bidding 90 cents. Then every time someone clicks on your ad, Google would charge you 90 cents, and you would retain the top position until someone else bids more for the same search word placement.

Google AdSense, as stated earlier, is an extension of Google AdWords. It takes the AdWords concept and moves it off of Google’s search page and onto thousands of other web pages. The ads that are displayed on the websites are Google AdWords ads.

It’s good for the advertiser, who gets more and broader displays, for Google, who charge more for this program, for you, who will make money from the clickthroughs on your pages, and also for the consumer, who will see cool ads for stuff they are probably interested in!

So how exactly are you making money from all this? You earn a share of the pay-per-click amount, every time a visitor clicks on the ad. So you just need to get ads on your site…

I decided to see if Michael's videos live up to

The first thing I noticed when I opened up the
first video was the stunning production quality.
He used Camtasia Studio for the production, which
is now the industry standard for creating
high-quality screen capture video products. The
audio is near studio quality, and the graphics
are very professional. These videos were made by
someone who KNOWS what he's doing. Well done!

I also liked how Michael divided the videos up by
section, and then again by sub-section. For
example, one video is all about the subject line,
and then there are different parts of that video
that each cover a certain area of crafting a
killer subject line.

VIDEO 1 - INTRODUCTION

This video served as an introduction to the whole
course. You get to see a picture of Michael in
his every day life, and he establishes his
credibility right up front by talking about some
of his massive successes online. He even provides
proof of credibility by displaying two checks in
the amount of $50,000 and $25,000 which prove
that, when it comes to the subject of making
money with email promos, he knows his stuff.

This is a good lesson for anyone to get. Whenever
you're teaching people how to do something, it's
good to establish your credibility up front, so
that there's no doubt about whether or not you're
qualified to talk about the subject. Most product
developers either skip or minimize this step.

VIDEO 2 - BEFORE YOU WRITE THE PROMO

This video talks about some things that no other
marketer has bothered to mention. You'll learn
things like:

* The mindset you need in order to write a killer
promo

* The different tools you need before you get
started

* How to keep your emails laser-focused

* How to create an outline that practically
writes the email for you.

This was a fantastic video, and did a good job of
kicking things off.

VIDEO 3 - THE SUBJECT LINE

I liked this video, because it talked about one
of MY biggest weaknesses when it comes to writing
email promos... the subject line. The subject
line is a confusing topic, because nobody's 100%
sure what the best tactics are.

Michael breaks it down, and reveals:

* The biggest secret for writing a subject line
that makes people insanely curious.

* Techniques for personalizing the subject line.

* Mistakes to avoid when using personalization.

I was surprised to find that I was making some of
the mistakes that Michael mentioned in this
video, but now I know better.

VIDEO 4 - THE OPENING

This is where a lot of people slack off when
writing their emails. Michael talks about how
important it is to create an opening that is
conversational, and then reveals techniques and
examples on how to do that.

He also reveals:

* How to get people to keep reading your email
once they've opened it.

* How to make your opening interesting.

* Mistakes to avoid when creating your first few
paragraphs.

VIDEO 5 - THE BODY COPY

This is one of the "meatiest" portions of the
course, because it reveals techniques that are
not widely discussed on the forums, blogs, and in
most eBooks. He talks about the importance of
keeping your body copy tight and relevant, and
then reveals how you can do that. You'll also
learn:

* How to write powerful bullets that make people
curious and want to find out more.

* Simple formatting tricks for making your body
copy easy to read.

* The secret of "bucket brigade copy" and how to
use it in your email promos to force people to
keep reading.

VIDEO 6 - THE CALL TO ACTION

This is where a lot of people wimp out in their
email promos. They start out strong, but when it
comes time to ask the reader to click the link
and take action, they don't know what to say.

(this section was a real eye-opener for me).

VIDEO 8 - COMMON MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE

I loved this video, because it showed me some
mistakes that I was making that I wasn't even
aware of. Unless you're a seasoned pro, you're
probably guilty of some of the things that
Michael talks about in this video as well, and
that's why it's so valuable. I've shaved years
off my learning curve, because now I can avoid
some of the costly mistakes that I was bound to
make in the learning process.

VIDEO 9 - HOW TO CREATE FOLLOW-UP EMAIL PROMOTIONS

This video alone is going to make me a lot of
money. Why? Because I used to only send out one
email promo for each affiliate promotion I was
doing. Michael showed me in this video how
important it is to send a follow-up promotion,
and he showed me exactly how to do it. He covered
things like:

* The psychology of follow-up email promo's.

* The 2 main types of follow-up promos that make
the most money.

* How to overcome readers' objections in your
follow up emails.

* The 2 most common mistakes people make when
writing follow-ups and how to avoid them.

VIDEO 10 - HOW TO WRITE BACK END EMAIL PROMOTIONS

Every marketing guru out there says that the REAL
money is on the back end. I'd have to agree with
them, but the problem is... most people have no
idea how to set up a back end system that makes

automated back end that's loaded with killer
promos that make you lots of cash on autopilot.
He reveals things like:

only have 3 products, can you really afford to
only email your list 3 times a year? They'll get
bored hearing about the same old products over
and over again. This video sheds some light on
how to create killer affiliate promos. Michael
reveals things like:

* The two main types of affiliate promos.

* What makes affiliate promos different than
regular promos (and why ignoring this huge secret
could cost you big money).

* Michael's favorite tactics for creating
affiliate promos that no one else is doing.

Everything Is Ok

Well, I got the links page fixed. It was coming up with a template that I had previously used for my site. It was weird. It turned out that I had to clean up my host account files. I had all sorts of old files in there and it was cluttering everything and making it hard for me to update.

So, there's another "Newbie Internet Marketer Tip":

Try To Stay As Organized As Possible! It wil make evrything go a lot faster for you than it has for me.

I have 2 crates full of printouts (newsletters, ebooks that I've purchased, etc., etc.,) and the best way I've found to deal with this mess is this:

I have each ebook or guide or newsletter in a different file folder. Whatever topics I'm working on at the moment (say, projects for the week) I have in one of those smaller accordian file folders. That way I can carry it around and it's not as bulky.

That brings me to something else. I also ALWAYS carry around a small notebook wherever I go. When you really start getting excited about your home based business, you will constantly be coming up with ideas.

Remember, everything mentioned on my site is something I've actually downloaded AND read throughout, not just skim, cover to cover. You have to soak up as much useful information as possible. I can help people avoid scams because I've already tested different authors methods and I know who is true and who is just trying to get your money.

So, whenever there is a new book on my site, there will most likely be a review article to go along with it. The reason Newbie Cash Machine and Autopilot Profit are reviewed in the same article is because I was reading them both simultaniously while I was going through the 30 days to success plan with Plug In Profit. Meanwhile, I was too excited about ideas I was coming up with for my own site, it only stayed a PIP site only as long as it took for me to figure out how to use some website building software. Which, believe me, at the pace I was trying to go at, I nearly lost my mind.

You don't have to work around the clock like that. I just wanted to be able to give something back since I had already tried so many different things. I was just happy I finally had a real plan for making money working from my home that I wanted to share with other Moms who want to stay at home with their kids too.

Also, I really had to speed it all up because I was told by my doctor that I couldn't do the type of work I was doing before for at least 6 months. So, I was running scared. Luckily, I found a solution.

Contact me if you need help, seriously. I know how frustrating it can be. I still have days when I'm ready to rip out all of my hair, but since I have the right tools, I'm always able to find the answers and get through any glitch I run into.

The next project I'm working on (beside reviewing more of the work from home realted ebooks I already have) is to put up some inexpensive, but helpful ebooks on either Ebay or The Newbie Helpsite itself. I haven't decided which yet. So, look for some good deals coming up.

Don't forget, you can already download a HUGE information packed ebook called "Dotcomology" from the home page. This one will keep you busy for a while if you need some material. But I wouldn't call it a "get your internet business started right now" type of ebook. For that, you can look on the "getting Started" page and go from there.
